Start off the day with the warm-up

Today's warm up is a free write. Give me a half a page where you write about whatever you wish.

I have very mixed feelings about the photo above, on one hand, I love that the students in my class are comfortable enough with each other that they will go on adventures together. It is their senior year, they are making memories that will last a lifetime and it is my sincere goal to have the class feel more like a family. The problem is that adventures like this should not ever happen when their lives are my responsibility. I know they meant no harm and I love the fact that they were doing it together but by doing so, they are putting my reputation and career at risk.

A family can have fun, get in trouble, pull pranks, disagree and even have petty arguments but you never put your family at risk.

Had this photo been taken after school or on the weekend, my heart would have been so full because I can see that they care for each other and what I try to do in my class is working but this photo was taken while I was responsible for their lives. I trusted them to make smart decisions and "protect the assets of the company" aka look out for me as well and they didn't. 

Do I understand why it happened? Of course but I am deeply hurt that people who are supposed to be my family would put me in jeopardy with their actions. 

I would never do such a thing to them, they are my kids forever.
